Hi, they call me Anna Elisabette Duerre! (:
My mum is British, Scottish, and Chinese while my dad is Turkish, Mongolian, Pakistani, and British, as well.
Growing up in Wales, I never realized that I was any different than any of the other kids. I went to an international school, where there were other kids of mixed race. It wasn’t until I went abroad for school for a semester to America when I got comments on my mixed race.
Kids in America were fascinated by my race and I was introduced to the term ‘Hapa’. I identify mostly with my British and Chinese side, since I live in the U.K. and have been to China to visit some of my mom’s dad’s side of the family recently.
I have recently been obsessed with learning more about my Asian side of the family and am even planning a trip this summer to Mongolia, where I have a few cousins. I love being able to identify with all of these different cultures and look forward to learning as much as I can about all of them!
Signed,
a proud Hapa girl
(:
Oh my gosh! You’re part Pakistani and mongolian?? That’s so awesome! That’s a very unique mix!
And here I thought I was an uncommon mix haha
Hapa for life!
