People are usually confused when I say that I’m part German, Irish, and Native American. I also get “Wow that’s a lot of nationalities… how??”

My mom is Chinese and my dad is half Korean and half Caucasian. My parents were high school sweethearts then married after college. I had an Asian upbringing with the whole take off your shoes when entering a house, do good in school, respect your elders etc. But I think the thing that I enjoyed the most while growing up was the amazing of traditional Chinese and Korean food that both of my grandmothers made.

The first time I heard of the word “Hapa” was in college I didn’t really know what it meant and I didn’t know that I was one… But I have always enjoyed telling people that I’m multi-racial and am proud of my heritage. Hapa Pride =)
