My dad met my mom while working in Taiwan and they immediately started to fall in love. Two weeks later, he asked her if she would like to be ‘Mrs. Van Norman’ in an elevator and the rest is history.
Growing up, I always got questions about my ethnicity but I don’t really think it played a large role in my identity. I’ve always just been… me. But who knows, maybe not having a single culture or background is what made me into the staunchly independent person that I am today.
